Daughters of Song

Daughters of Song

A joyous celebration in song lifted the low-ceiling room where we gathered at Silver Springs Retreat ground for our recent women’s retreat.  Sarah Macintosh shared how her songs come from her life, and we marveled at the songs by Miriam, Deborah and Mary recorded in Scripture.

Old Testament women in song and their place in Old Testament worship was my focus.  I referred to Ecclesiastes 12:4, where “daughters of song” is referenced, a term we began using for ourselves.

We tacked large paper on the walls and invited the women to write lyrics for the new song we would compose titled “Daughters of Song”.  Sarah Mackintosh was the first up, writing “daughters of song breathed and held by hands that shaped the world" ....  As the profound words were slowly written by many women over the two days, we saw how deeply God was working through song in our individual hearts.

These lyrics are posted here so you can share our new song with us.

The spirit of the retreat is a cup still running over, our fall WBF sessions Thursday evenings and Friday mornings are filled with our new songs, new singers, new instrumentalists and many new faces.
